It is going off in the gulf currently with whales, dolphins, huge schools of Kawhai and pilchards about 5km out from the Noises.
Last Sunday the workups were spread from Colville right down to the Elbow (Elbow is shown above) and these workups are lasting right through the week.
The Jitterbugs with a swipe of secret sauce have been doing the business with some beautiful 3-4 kilo snappers underneath the pilchards ready to jump on the jitterbugs as soon as they hit. Also a mixture of rat Kings and some larger ones being caught also around the 85cm mark. The Kawhai are in plague proportions this year and it is not uncommon to catch one of these spectacular fighters with 5 pilchards in its stomach. The amazing thing is they are still feeding even with 5 in the tummy.
The workups are the best we have seen for a while and it makes for some fun fishing and a great way to put food on the table for the family.
The best Jitterbug was Blue and Pink on the day but we recommend you test out different colours as the bite can change and one day can be different to the next.
