Still lots of anchovies and small pilchards in the Gulf
There is a huge area of bait (anchovy and small pilchards) sitting about 2nm-4nm North Nor-east of gannet rock off the bottom end of Waiheke. What is surprising, is the dolphins haven’ found it yet (or as of Tuesday last week). We have been fishing the area for about a week and waiting patiently for the mammals to arrive and round it up. We had a great day on 25th of March fishing huge schools of anchovies. They were hiding under the boat which meant we had a ring side seat to the Kahawai smashing through the schools over ...
Every year is different and we have found the fishing to be a bit late this year with February fishing like January and now in March it is finally becoming more consistent with the colder weather bringing the workups on.
The weather has been brilliant over the past month meaning we can go wide and enjoy a vast area to fish.
Every year is different and I think that is the magic ...
