The boys winter trip to Lil barrier was planned and hatched. Stayed at a mates batch in Point Wells and headed over in 20KntSW winds.

Saturday – Al gets a nice JD on the Lime Pickles Jitterbug (I have now seen 4 JD’s caught on this particular jig – 3 to myself fishing the wiorkups)

It was raining but the wind was down so decided to have a quick fish off Taka Cliffs on Sunday. Wind and tide lined up for the outgoing tide and I had a huge burly trail dispersing towards Takapuna boat ramp in no time at all. I was using my little PowerFlex soft baiting rod with fresh squid bait and my first cast was hit by a nice 50cm snapper.

Life is good.
With the weather playing ball today it was time to go fishing, so a plan was hatched to do just that.
On the water at first light (7am) to make the most of the outgoing tide as knew there would be very little current after the first couple of hours with the smallish tides.
So out to the spot (out the back of Ponui Island) ...

Fortune favours the Brave.
With the weather being a bit more settled this week I was keen to get back out amongst it.
So up early & man it was brass monkey, ice everywhere, on the car & boat, even my boat carpet was frozen, no need for ice I was surrounded by it.
So all rugged up & I was off.
